Daedalic EntertainmentとNACONは、PlayStation 5 / PlayStation 4/Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/PC版ステルスアドベンチャー「The Lord of the Rings: Gollum」の発売日を9月1日に決定した。価格は未定。なお、Nintendo Switch版は2022年後半の発売が予定されている。
本作はJ.R.R.トールキンによる長編小説「指輪物語」3部作をベースにしたゲームだ。ビデオを見る限り、「The Lord of the Rings：Gollum」は、 Assassin’s Creed、Splinter Cell、Metal Gear Solid などのステルスゲームのようだが、最近のステルスゲームとは異なり、オープンワールドタイプではなく直線的な、ストーリー重視のゲームとなる。2019年に発表されたこのゲームは、当初2021年のリリースが予定されていた。その後、2022年に延期され、日付が確定されたのは今回が初めてだ。
ビルボ・バギンズに大切な指輪を奪われたゴラムは、霧の山々を離れ、バラド・ドゥアの地下牢からミルクウッドの森の妖精たちの世界へと危険な旅に出る決心をする。 中つ国を旅するゴラムは、危険を切り抜けるために、忍び寄り、登り、あらゆる狡猾さを駆使しなければならない。
重要な決断をゴラムにさせるか、もう1つの人格スメアゴルにさせるかはプレーヤー次第だ。小説に登場する主なキャラクターの姿も確認出来るトレーラーも合わせて公開されている。
